The Day 10 Patch for Rival Stars Horse Racing: VR Edition is here!

As mentioned on our roadmap, this update includes a few planned fixes and additions we wanted to get into the game early on. These changes are targeted at the Meta store version, as SteamVR already had these fixes at launch.

Here’s what’s new

  • New horse animations on the pastures to improve the horse’s liveliness.
  • New celebration animations have been added to the end of the race
  • Additional UI animations to improve the menu navigation experience.
  • New ranch illumination
  • Smooth turning locomotion

Fixed:

  • A bug that prevented controls registration in races if the player turned or looked in a different direction while the race scene was loading.
  • The player is removed from the multiplayer lobby after changing the focus.
  • Turning off the internet creates a loop between entering the race and the ranch in the multiplayer mode.
  • The tack window can’t be closed, and an invisible rider appears holding the horse’s reins.
  • Pressing Race and then Exit may result in no further actions being available.

Looking Ahead:

We’re aware the game isn’t performing quite where we want it yet, so for now, we’re shifting our focus to gameplay improvements.

Don’t worry — we still have new features planned! They’re definitely on the way, but they’ll be arriving a little later down the road once we’ve tightened up the core experience.

From player feedback and our own data, we’ve identified a few major areas that need work:

  • Difficulty using the sprinting and stamina recharge gestures
  • Crashes affecting gameplay

Improving these areas is a priority for us as we plan out the next steps for the game.

Thank you for sticking with us — your support and feedback mean a lot.
We’re excited about the future of Rival Stars Horse Racing: VR Edition and can’t wait to keep building it with you!
